Response to Council budget questions

Our Commission works with the Calgary Police Service each fall to provide City Council with any changes needed to the total police budget. This year, cost escalations on a needed new indoor firearms range required us to try find funding within the police budget that could be reallocated. In response to our proposal that a portion of Community Safety Investment Framework funding be reallocated to the needed capital project, Council made five requests of us and City of Calgary staff on October 30.

To be transparent with the public about the cost escalations on the indoor firearms range and how our Commission reached the decisions we did, our written response to Council is being made publicly available.
