Councillor Dan McLean was elected to represent Ward 13 in the fall of 2021 and was appointed to the Calgary Police Commission in November 2025.
Councillor McLean brings a strong business background to his work on the Commission, having founded and operated McLean Golf for nearly two decades. Starting as a small operation selling golf cars from his acreage, he grew the company into a major distributor for Alberta and British Columbia, securing contracts with leading manufacturers and supplying over 250 golf and utility vehicles for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Raised on a farm near Camrose, Councillor McLean has lived in southwest Calgary for more than 20 years. He has been active in his community through youth sports programs and local volunteer initiatives, and he is passionate about fiscal responsibility, public safety, and creating a business-friendly environment for Calgary.
As a Commissioner, McLean is focused on ensuring strong governance, supporting police resources, and fostering trust between law enforcement and the community.
Councillor McLean studied Political and General Sciences at the University of Alberta.
