Councillor Jennifer Wyness was elected to City Council in the fall of 2021 by the residents of Ward 2 and was appointed to the Commission in November 2022.
Prior to taking office, Councillor Wyness worked for more than a decade with corporations, non-profits and government organizations to develop outreach programs and mediate conflicts. She is an experienced public relations professional and mediator.
Councillor Wyness has been an advocate for those suffering from chronic pain and has a strong interest in the opioid epidemic and public health policy. She is also passionate about building more connected and inclusive communities, while ensuring sound financial management of public funds.
Councillor Wyness holds a Bachelors of Kinesiology with a minor in Sociology from the University of the Fraser Valley, a Diploma of Public Relations from the University of Victoria, and an Emergency Medical Responder Certificate from the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
